Skating (not) Smooth

A winter evening at the Christmas Fair, seven brave skaters, and a level of balance that ranged from surprisingly decent to spiritually experimental.

Winter recap

We came for the ice. We stayed for the chaos.

Ice skating looked simple from a respectful distance. Once we actually stepped onto the rink, reality introduced itself properly. Some of us glided. Some of us discovered the ice more intimately. A few people found rhythm. A few others found the floor. Repeatedly. With commitment.

That was the fun of it. Nobody needed to be good at skating for the evening to work. The point was showing up, laughing at the wobbling, helping each other back up, and turning a winter activity into the kind of shared memory that sticks far longer than any elegant lap ever could.

Between the lights of the Christmas Fair, the cold air, and the very questionable confidence of first-time skaters, the whole evening felt warm in the way student memories often do. Slightly chaotic, completely social, and far more fun than it had any right to be.

We did not leave as professional skaters. That would have been absurd. But we did leave with a better story, colder hands, and the kind of group energy that makes even a Bambi-on-ice moment feel worth repeating.

Winter lesson of the day: confidence is not the same thing as balance, and the ice notices the difference immediately.

Be part of the next memory

ESN Alba Iulia creates warm memories even in winter.

The next event might be smoother, warmer, or just as gloriously unstable. Either way, it is always better when shared.

For future brave participants

Join the next outing and see whether you glide, wobble, or achieve both at once.
